When I worked at a flower shop, an elderly man came in to see if we could revive his Christmas Cactus. His wife had recently died, and this cactus was given to them on their wedding day over 60 years ago. She had always taken care of it, but after her death he was having trouble keeping it healthy. That request has stuck in my memory for years because of its tenderness and loss. This plant represented so much more. This painting is a picture of the things in our lives that we hold onto for their sentimentality and memory.
Original 8×10in. oil painting on panel in wood frame signed Byron in lower right corner.
