The bougainvillea flower was always one of my favorite sights while living in Los Angeles, bringing so much color and life to the streets. You can find it growing over fences, hanging from rooftops and clinging to street corners. While in real life, these pretty pinks are bursting forth, this painting is a paired back version. Mixed with vines and arranged on a column, the piece is an attempt to take an ingredient associated with maximalism and reducing it into a more minimalistic style. Signed Byron in lower right corner.
Original 5×7in. oil painting on canvas board in 3/4in. wood frame.
